Matthew 6:6

6 But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. (NKJV)

Prayer should not be done for show
This bible verse looks at how we are to pray in secrecy. When we pray in secrecy our God in heaven will reward us openly

Matthew 6:9-13

9 In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be your name.

Luke 18:9-14

9 Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:
10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector
11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortions, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector.
12 I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’
13 And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’

Lesson

How to pray with humility. Prayers require humility, when a Pharisee and tax collector pray we would expect the Pharisee prayer’s to be answered. But it is in fact the tax collector’s prayers that were heard. In prayers he humbled himself.
